After the prearranging the blocks on my parents bed, the quilt would come to life with color, memories and artistic design unsurpassed by any painting available.

However, if we have kids at home, we could not just pick any kind of quilt for any family member. Especially boys, they tend to get as picky as the girls when it comes to these. Where and how can we get ideas for boys of different age ranges?

Blanket Quilt After the quilt has been stitched from one side to the other, it is now time to take it out of the frame and see what a masterpiece of fashion that you have created. But you are not done with this project yet, you have to attach a binding around the edge to finish the quilt and before you can start enjoying the warmth of this one of a kind blanket you have created.

Now you need to sew it together with the batting and the backing. As you probably already know, a blanket isn't just made of one layer. You will have to sew it together and then stitch across the entire quilt to hold it all together. This is where you can get fancy and make pretty stitch designs. If you are looking to get this done fast, just do a basic straight stitch across the whole blanket. You will have to do this sewing by hand, so get a comfy position on your couch and get sewing!

With right sides facing each other, place another rectangle, this time a solid one, over the first rectangle and edges even with side 2 of the center piece. Always cover the previous piece (in this case the first rectangle). Sew from the edge of the previous rectangle to the edge of side 2.

Just as with many string and selvedge edge quilt blocks, women took the cigar ribbons and arranged them to form designs. The blocks were usually square, with strips laid in log cabin designs, on the diagonal, or in quartered designs. The color would add another dimension as the secondary pattern that formed when the blocks were sewn together.

Quilts are what most people are familiar with, I won't say everyone because there's always someone who is the exception to the rule, and most likely you have one or more quilts on your bed right now.
