Cambage makes pitch to be reinstated to opals squad

Bambage has lost its appeal to rejoin the Opals squad due to a ban placed on the players.

The ban was in place following a clash between the players and the Perth club staff as it sought to rejoin the club and play against the Tigers.

Bambage player Josh Nahan said after Sunday's match that he was happy to be on the roster.

"For the club to keep me here is pretty cool because you're a guy that's going to be in every game, playing every quarter and that's a great feeling to have the opportunity and you're going to get to play against the top opposition guys so that's something that's gonna help get the team up and keep getting better and play more games," he said.

Bambage coach Phil Fournier said the club would not have re-tried to play in Perth if the ban had not occurred.

"It's a matter of the policy and we've been discussing that and we've decided we won't," he said.

Cambage chairman Steve Perenant said the ruling had been brought into the spotlight by the club's recent league game with the Eagles.

He said both teams were "a little disappointed at the outcomes, but I think both teams in the league game, it's a fair result for both teams and for us."

AFL Rules allows a player to play at clubs in other states in interstate competition.
