Historical Inn and Tavern
For over 200 years guests Have enjoyed the hospitality given at the historic Altland House Inn and tavern located in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. Originally constructed in 1790, the inn was bought by Robert Altland at 1880, and stands in precisely the exact same place today. Adding a third narrative and what's currently its present facade completed in 1911 by then owner Ruben Altland, the inn and tavern continued to flourish. Fast forward to 1954; no more made of logs but beautiful with a refurbished splendor for all to enjoy the Altland House was leased now with a former waitress, Betty Haugh along with her husband Tom later purchased by the Haugh household in 1972.
Time Changes all Things
The first Berwick Room Has been renamed Lulu's Grill where diners now may enjoy plenty of culinary delights like turtle soup, a menu staple for over 60 years. Travelers will appreciate overnight accommodations at the historic inn. Cozy guest rooms and suites on the no-smoking property feature free WiFi, a fast start breakfast and eliminate bundle specials. The Underside restaurant provides casual dining with everything from chicken and waffles to quesadillas. Specialty nights like Wine Night Tuesdays and live music on Friday nights enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike, provide the Altland House a ambience that guests have enjoyed for centuries.
Traditional is Modern Again
The on-site brewery, Center Square Brewing offers a unique yield to background using their own chilly, Frothy craft beers which may be paired up with exciting nouveau menu things such as Blackened Ahi Tuna, Grilled Chicken and Brie Wraps or Firecracker Shrimp Tacos. As rich in history as its culinary delights and libations, the Altland House Will be sure to keep on delighting visitors as much as it did President Roosevelt and others.
