Whether You're buying or Selling, most people make their bargains on the internet. Creating a bargain online appears to be pretty harmless, right? That is the reason you want to do your homework prior to buying or selling online. But, there is still a possibility you could be ripped off. That's the reason you have to take extra precautions.

1) Whether you are buying or selling a civil war artifact or something different, you need to have the right identification. Ask the seller to attach a photo ID to the item in question. You never know whether the thing in question was ripped off from somewhere else or not.

2) There are fakes out there. You may not even recognize a fake is hiding in plain sight until after the actuality. Ask someone you trust for a second opinion. I do that with pretty much everything I buy. You can even ask a few of the members of the online forums. There are a lot of civil war traders who'll post a fake that's posing as the real thing.

3) Examine the feedback. The opinions is there for a reason. I use eBay mainly. You might be using some other place. You should still always check the comments. Don't trust a vendor that does not have a 98% positive feedback or over.

4) Use Paypal. I do the majority of my banking with Paypal. It's fast and secure. I cannot stress the importance of using Paypal enough.
